The cashier had a great attitude and the barbacoa breakfast tacos I had were wonderful. The restaurant itself does not pretend to be more than it is: an authentic, family owned hole in the wall serving phenomenal Mexican food. I went back the next day for a quesadilla and wanted to go back a third time!

UPDATED (9/2/18): As others have noted, Texas Taco has closed, but they are relocating to 7702 Burger Lane in the Chevron Station near Windfern @ Phillipine. Opening date should be during the week after Labor Day. Their old location on W. Little York has closed and their building has been demo'd to make way for a new (educated guess) gas station. ORIGINAL REVIEW: This isn't a trendy chain-type place and the hygiene might turn some people off. Those people would be missing out on the friendly service, great prices, and the top-notch grub available here. Thickest bacon I've found anywhere and great homemade salsa verde. They also have glass-bottle cokes in the fridge...

I have eaten everything from hotdogs and gyros in Manhattan to authentic Mexican food in Mazilan. Good Mexican food is hard to find even in Texas...Its places like this one that captures great flavor of home cooked Mexican food. The place doesn't look like it would be place I would stop to eat, but I read the Google reviews and decided...lol I've eaten in worst places. So I gave it a try..I'm glad I did too! It was 2 big tacos with any type of delish topping you want.. and I promise it fills you up. Its a diamond in the rough for sure. This place may not know great building architecture, lol but its clean and they know great food... Look at the times when open and closed though.. Hint...trash burrito. But don't tell "everybody" now, I want some tacos to myself too! Ha ha.. Happy eating...Douglas

I love this place! The food is so flavorful and the service is friendly. The chorizo actually tastes like chorizo. Very busy in the mornings, so watch the timing.

First off, you don’t go there for the atmosphere...you go for the authentic awesomeness of the tacos. If you’ve been once, you’re bound to go again. When I really want a taco or a quesadilla or even a pupusa, it’s my first choice, but I’m lucky enough to live in the area. I tried them out about 15 years ago and though they’ve moved locations, the flavor has never disappointed.
